DynamicPDF Generator for COM/ActiveX (v2 and older) Forum

Hello:

I inherited a system that creates .pdf using DynamicPDF Generator v2.6 Developer Edition. In some machines the .pdf is not showing, the browser shows special characters. In the machines that it doesn't work the .Net Framework installed is version 1.0. I reviewed the machines that work and all of them have version 2.0.
Is that the issue?. We are using version 7+ of Adobe reader. The OS in use is Windows XP Home Edition or Professional SP2

Hello,

We are not aware of any issues related to using DynamicPDF Generator v2.6 product on machines with .NET Framework 1.0 installed. The product is not dependent on the version of version of .NET Framework. What version of IE is installed on machines on which you see special characters? Does the contents you see start with %%PDF?

Thanks,

Hello,

Thanks for the quick response.
Answering your questions:

One of the machines has Intenet Explorer version 6.0.29.
Yes the content start with %PDF-1.3%Generated by DynamicPDF 1.0 obj <</Type......
The generated .pdf has images (.jpg) added to it.

Thanks,

Suyin

Hello Suyin,

Can you try adding a Response.End after the call to the Document's Draw method.  Make this change and try the application again and let us know if you are still having the issue.

Thanks,

Hello,

I added the Response.End and didn't solve the problem. Still the same results. I think, that it should be related to the machines, a settings issue or something like that. Thanks,

Suyin
Do you have any other suggestion for my problem?

Hello,

Are you setting the CompressionLevel in your code? The characters you are seeing in the output page is the PDF code of the document. Maybe try reinstalling Acrobat on the machine you are having problem with and see if that solves the problem. It is possible that the Acrobat plug-in might have got corrupt.

Thanks,

I don't know what is the CompressionLevel and I already reinstalled the Acrobat Reader on the machine.

Hello Suyin,

We have a few questions to try to identify the problem:

1) Are you using the DrawToASP method to output the PDF?
2) Are you adding any HTTP headers to the page?
3) Is this running over an SSL connection?
4) Do you get this problem on all machines, or does it work fine on some?

Thanks,

No

That is the original problem, it works in all machines but two, so far.
Besides any other .pdf file shows correctly on the browser.

Hello Suyin,

Are you getting this problem when trying to display any static PDF documents on the browser?

Also can you please try running the examples downloaded with the product download and the examples from our website in the system having problem and see if you have any problem.

Thanks,
ceTe Software Support Team.
