OCRd documents turning numbers into letters

DynamicPDF CoreSuite for .NET (v8) Forum

I am creating an original SSRS report document that has a tracking number in it.

The font for this tracking number is "OCR A Extended".

I scan the document using our copier utilizing its OCR capabilities and save it as a PDF.

Using DynamicPDF Merger to extract the tracking number, we are getting inconsistent results where numbers are turning into letters and spaces are being inserted between numbers.

The number '9' is seen as 'e', '4' is seen as 'a', '5' is seen as 's'.

Example: tracking number 499509 extracted using Merger is read as 4e9509 (the first 9 is incorrect, the 5 is fine, the following 9s are fine); tracking number 502351 is extracted as 5023s1 (the first '5' is fine, the second one is not).

Has anyone else had issues like this or anyone have suggestions?
Thank you for your time!

Hello Don,

We have not seen this kind of issue before. Please email the following information to support@cete.com so we can investigate further.

1. A copy of the PDF from which you are trying to extract text.
2. Code used to extract text.
3. Version and build number of the DynamicPDF dll used.

Thanks,
ceTe Software Support Team.
Please disregard this thread. My understanding of the process was wrong. Apparently, the inconsistency I referenced is due to the OCR capabilities on our copier, not DynamicPDF.

Sorry for any inconvenience.
