DynamicPDF Merger for .NET (v4) Forum

Hello!

We are using PDFMerger in our test environment and have generated license key for that server. We still see watermark in the resulting merged PDF file. Is that normal behavior for test environment licenses or is it an error?

Best regards,
Mark

Hi Mark,

A properly licensed test environment will in fact create the PDF documents without the watermark.  The fact that you have attempted to license this this test server and are still receiving the watermark indicates one of three (likely) things:

  1. The computer name you used to create the License Key does not actually match the computer name of the machine (remember not to use the fully qualified name).  If this is the case, create a new License Key and try again.

  2. The License Key was not added properly into your application.  Review the instructions for adding the License Keys in the Customer Area (where you originally created the key).

  3. The features you are using in your code is not covered by your License Key level (for instance you are using an Enterprise edition feature when you have purchased a Professional edition product).

If you review those three things and identify your mistake then let us know what the issue was (for completion).  However, if you send over the numbers in square brackets at the top of the output PDF (in the format of [X:X:xX]) we can usually identify from that where the problem lies.

We look forward to hearing back from you either way.

Hello,

We are getting watermark in our document with message at the top saying: "Evaluating unlicensed DynamicPDF feature. Click here for details. [4:0:s1]"

Does this say anything to you?

Mark

Hello Mark,

The numbers [4:0:s1] on the watermarked PDF indicate that the license key you are using is not valid for the machine or server you are generating the PDF on.

The server license keys are unique to the machine it is created for and will not work on other machines. Please double check the computer name you have entered in the customer area: CustomerArea when you created the license key. Please make sure that you have used the correct computer name. For example, if "SRV22.company.com” is the full computer name then you should be using “SRV22” to generate the key.

If this is web application that you are trying to license you can use the following method to verify the computer name: Download the ASPX page by logging into CustomerArea using your version 4 product serial number. Place the GetComputerName.aspx in the root folder (IIS) of your web application and access it via the browser to see the computer name. If this name does not match the computer names you have used to create the keys, then you would need to recreate them with the correct name displayed by the ASPX page.

If the above suggestions do not resolve the issue, then please send over the following information to support@cete.com so we can look into it further.
1. PDF watermark number if they have changed after you tried the above suggestions.
2. Config file appsetting entries or application code that includes the license key that you are using to license the application
3. Exact version and build number of the DynamicPDF DLL file. You can get this information in DLL references properties (Version and Descriptions fields) in Visual Studio.
