Barcode Types

    I was wondering if there is any nice way of checking if a barcodes value conforms to its character requirements.  For example the Postnet Barcode type is limited to numeric characters.  The Barcode class does not limit you from instantiating a new Postnet barcode with alpha characters as its value, however it will throw an error on the postnet.Draw().  Many other Barcode fonts have character limitations as well.  Besides catching errors on .Draw or massaging the data prior to setting the barcodes value, does DynamicPdf have a way to validate if a barcode's value is valid for that font type prior to the .Draw?

Currently it is not possible to Validate the barcode value before drawing it using any of our DynamicPDF product. We will add this feature to our wish list and forward it to the developers for consideration to be added in the future version of DynamicPDF product.

    Thank you.  For now I will implement my own validation routine.  I have done some research on barcode character limitations and lengths and have found some contradicting character and length requirements on various fonts.  Do you have a chart that gives character and length requirements for your supported barcode fonts?

Please refer the AllPageElements sample example downloaded with the product download which shows how the different barcodes are added to the pdf document using our DynamicPDF product.

We do not have any charts or documents that describes the characters and length supported by each barcode. However if you have any doubts over what characters and length is supported by any specific barcode, let us know and we can try to look that for you.

is there support for validation yet? Do you have a chart for all acceptable chars for the different barcodes yet?
