DynamicPDF Generator for .NET (v3 and older) Forum

 Feb 22 2006 9:09 AM
Hi,

I purchased DynamicPDF Generator v3.0 for .NET Professional Server License and created 3 license keys (1 for production, 1 for a development server, 1 for my local machine). I uninstalled all community editions and installed the Server edition clean on both dev machines (haven't touched production server yet). I can create pdf's fine (no watermarks) on my local machine using ASP.NET 2.0 VisualWebDesigner, but when I compile the code and put it on the development server, I get watermarks! I ran the compiled code on my local machine and still no watermarks. The code at the top of the page is "1:0:s0". I double-checked to make sure the right dll is in the bin folder and my web.config file has all three keys (just like the documentation from the customer area). Any help would be appreciated! Thanks...

Hello Rob,

The reason you are getting the watermark is because it looks like the license is not being picked up. The development server’s computer name you entered while generating the license key was not correct. Each license key is unique and is based on the specific machine name. The reason you do not get watermark on the local machine is because it uses localhost.

Your server's computer name can be found on the "Computer Name" tab of your system's System Properties window. The computer name is the first portion (before the period) of its full computer name (i.e. "SRV22" is the computer name for the full computer name "SRV22.company.com".

If you are having problem getting the computer name download the ASPX page by logging into the Customer Area using your serial number. The ASPX page will help you to retrieve the server's computer name.

Ok, now I'm getting a different error code "3:1:s3". Is this still related to the license?

Thanks for your help.

Hello,

Actually the above numbers indicate that you are using an Enterpise Edition feature and yet you only have a Professional Ediiton license.

Always make sure that the features you are using are inlcuded in the serial number you have purchased. Click on the feature chart link to view the list of features included with your license. If you need any information on upgrading this license feel free to contact Sales .

I was using "HTMLTextArea". Changed it to "TextArea" and all is well now. Thanks for your help!

I also have this problem. The feature chart shows the HtmlTextArea as usable in either the professional or enterprise edition. Is this not the case?

I originally purchased DynamicPDF Generator v3.0 for .NET Professional which does NOT have the HTMLTextArea feature. I upgraded to DynamicPDF Generator v3.0 for .NET Enterprise and was able to use HTMLTextArea.

From the current feature chart, it looks like v4.0 has that HTML feature in both Professional and Enterprise versions. So I guess it depends on what Professional version you're running.

I should've waited to get 4.0! ;)....great product ceTe!

Hello,

The watermark numbers which you are getting is most likely because you are using version 6 dll file in your application and you have other version license key in your application. You will have to make sure that you are using the same version dll file and the license key in your application. For example if you are using version 3 license key then you will have to use version 3 DynamicPDF product dll files.

If you want to use the version 6 DynamicPDF dll file in your application then you will need to purchase a new license for the version 6 DynamicPDF Merger for .NET product  and generate a new license key for your server and use this license key in your application.

I'm sorry I posted under the wrong forum.  I have a v6 Professional Developer license.  I'm able to add my key and dll's to our web application fine.  But we also have a client application that makes a web call to our web application and this one continues to display the watermark.  I've updated the appsettings with our key and using the same dll's as our web application.  It might be referencing an older version we use to have for some reason.  If this is the case how do I remove it, I don't see it in our references at all.

Hello,

Please double check if the old version dll got registered in the GAC, you will have to uninstall this from the GAC and then reference the version 6 dll file and add the version 6 license key to the correct web.config file to remove watermark from the PDF document.

I'm not seeing an old version still.  Could this be caused by having the Professional version and needing the Enterprise version for ceTe.DynamicPDF.Merger or should I keep looking for an old version?

Hello,

Can you please send over the product serial number, output PDF document having watermark on it and the web.config file through which you are adding license key to our support team at: support@cete.com? This information will help them to look into it further.
