DynamicPDF ReportWriter for .NET (v4) Forum

Hi,
We have some Active Reports which produces PDFs using a proprietary engine.  Is it possible to generate PDFs using DynamicPDFReportWriter by integrating the Active Report?

Any leads would be appreciated.

Thanks
Shekar

Hello Shekar,

Yes, you can use the PDFs generated by the Active Reports. You can merge these PDFs to the output PDF generated by the Report Writer, also you can use the PDFs generated by the Active Reports as a template within the Report Writer. Please feel free to download our fully functional evaluation version from our web site.

Thanks,

Hi, Thanks for your reply.
I think i needed to be more clear on what I was looking for.

We have custom report DLLs built with Active Reports.  These DLLs fetch data from the DB and do the layout of the data.  As of now, we have a proprietary engine/framework which takes these DLLs and gives out PDFs. I was checking  to see if it's possible to feed the custom Active Report DLL (Or, may be some info extracted out of it) and pass it to DynamicPDFReportWriter and it will produce the PDF with the data and the layout?  I know it's a long shot, but was curious :)

Thanks again

Hello Shekar,

You can only layout the PDF report by placing the elements in the Report Designer. You can not directly refer to any dlls from the designer.

You can add data at runtime to the report by using the events. You will have to place a place holder in the report layout and you can add the data coming from the dlls in the PDF report using the events of the place holder. You can refer to the Handling Events In Web Form topic in our help documentation.
